Looking to combine his personal approach to designing and practical building skills, Douglas set up local studio after graduating with a diploma in Architecture from the Makintosh, Glasgow. The practice now acts as a platform to grow a company dedicated to producing affordable and sustainable architecture.
Whilst working for the award winning practice Curl La Tourelle Head in London, working on broad social projects such as the restoration of Harringeys grade II listed brutalist library Douglas gained his ethos for sustainably driven and sensitive desigin. Douglas also gained his love for residential desiging working for the award winning architects Threefold on social housing desigings with Croydons Brick by Brick. Taking the companies strive for buildings to do more and attention to detail desiging Douglas has a passion for adapting and desiging peoples homes.
Following his work as an Architectural Assistant, Douglas worked as a builder first in Wellington, New Zealand learning the trade on a large residential project, then back in the UK taking on his own construction project in Par, Cornwall, before working for architects ‘District Build’ and running a project extending a victorian terrace in Dulwich, London. His most recent works as a freelancing builder havebeen a tenement bathroom rennovation in Crosshill and new box dormer attic extension in Bath, Wiltshire.
Now working as a freelancer Douglas combines his architectural design expirience and ethics with his practical site expirience create a streamlined and thoughtfull design process.
